There are fire trucks at Gertrude Walker Elementary School responding to a fire alarm at the school. The alarm was set off due to construction work being done at the school.

Teachers across the district participated in a three day Summer Institute with TASN to learn about Structured Teach.
Structured teach is a framework for students who benefit from structured environments, visual supports, work systems, and consistent routines to be successful. Participants also spent time learning about the characteristics of Autism and evidence-based practices for working with students who have diverse academic, social, and behavioral needs.
The Garden City Public Schools Transportation Department had 12 school bus drivers participate in the Kansas State Pupil Transportation Association’s Safe Driver Competition. Jerry Guerrero took 1st place in the Experienced Transit Driver Division and is the 2025 Overall State Safe Driver Champion. He will compete in the National School Transportation Association’s Annual School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in Austin, Texas on June 28th and 29th. https://www.gckschools.com/article/2265143
