Three GCHS students with the Jobs for America’s Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) program visited the Kansas Statehouse as part of the JAG-K Day at the Capitol. They met with Senator John Doll and Representative Dr. William Clifford. GCHS Senior and choir member, Hayley Loya, is bound for New York City and Carnegie Hall. She auditioned last December and was chosen to participate in the Carnegie Honors Performance Series. She will participate in the treble honor choir under the direction of Mr. Matthew Brady and will give a culminating performance at Carnegie Hall on Saturday.


HGMS Cheer is holding a fundraiser in partnership with KFC today, February 7. 20% of all purchases will go back to the cheer team. Show them either a printed version of the flier or a digital copy/screenshot. $10 subtotal minimum for it to count towards our total.

The Garden City Public Schools Foundation and Finney County United Way teamed up to provide support for the entry fee for USD 457 students to compete in the Finney County Spelling Bee. The entry fee for the Spelling Bee helps defray costs for winning students to compete at the state level and provides districts and schools access to Scripps materials on the website. The state Spelling Bee will be held on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus in Salina, Kansas on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

The HGMS Scholars' Bowl Team is holding a fundraiser in partnership with Applebee’s today, February 6. By choosing from the Together We Care menu, 50% of the proceeds will help support the team. Thank you for your support!

Gertrude Walker School fourth grader, Michael Rodriguez, won the Finney County Spelling Bee on Saturday. He will participate in the state Spelling Bee in Salina on March 23, 2024.
Cheryll Nei, a fifth grader from St. Mary School, was the runner-up. She will be the alternate for the state competition for Finney County.

USD 457 school buses will no longer be running mud routes beginning Friday, February 2. The district will be back running regular routes.
