
The Boundary Study Committee met on Thursday evening and is continuing its work work on updating the boundaries and also looking at a K-5/6-8 grade configuration for the district. The Garden City High School drama department will present "Bethel Park Falls" March 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m. and March 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the high school. Garden City Public Schools received a donation of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) units from the Finney County Local Health Equity Action Team (LHEAT). The units will be housed at Victor Ornales Elementary School and Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center. The LHEAT is funded through the Communities Organizing to Promote Equity Grant through the University of Kansas Medical Center.


Madison Thompson, Parents As Teachers Coordinator, recently attended the Parents as Teachers Early Learning Advocacy Day at the State Capital. She visited with local and other state representatives on important Early Learning program legislation. They also received a proclamation from the Senate proclaiming the event as Early Learning Advocacy.


Garden City Public Schools will observe Spring Break March 11th – 15th. School will not be in session during the break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 18, 2024.


The Garden City Public Schools Foundation Grant Squad visited schools on Thursday to award $200 mini-grants to help teachers enhance instruction in their classrooms. The awards were presented to teachers in a surprise celebration in their classrooms. https://www.gckschools.com/article/1497750


Jennie Wilson Elementary School held a Heroes Breakfast this morning thanking the Garden City Police Department, Garden City Fire Department, Finney County EMS, Finney County Sheriff's Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, LifeSave & EagleMed for everything they do for the community.


The Garden City High School choirs will present a pre-contest concert on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.


The middle school choirs and orchestra will present a contest concert on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in Clifford Hope Auditorium at Horace Good Middle School.


Student artwork is on display at the USD 457 Educational Support Center as part of the celebration of Youth Art Month.


The Board of Education approved the 2024-2025 school calendar. A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. https://www.gckschools.com/article/1492776
