Families around the community are picking up backpacks filled with schools supplies at Garfield Early Childhood Center today. Many USD 457 staff and other volunteers are busy helping students get the items they need to start the school year. City crews are painting the crosswalks around the community to get ready for the start of the school year. The first day of the 2024-25 school year is Wednesday, August 14. All elementary (Kindergarten-5th), 7th, 9th, and 10th grade students, as well as any student new to the district will begin with a half-day. The first full day of school for Garden City Public Schools is Thursday, August 15, 2024, when all classes will be in session for the start of the 2024-25 school year.

The Kansas Highway Patrol inspected USD 457 school buses Tuesday morning. Every school bus must pass inspection before the district can use them to transport students. This is the third year in a row that the district received a 100% inspection.www.gckschools.com/article/1683868
