Interested in obtaining your ESOL endorsement? Stop by the Educational Support Center on Tuesday, May 21 at 4:15pm to learn about upcoming courses. USD 457 employees receive reimbursement for classes and a yearly $1,000 stipend after adding the endorsement to their teaching license.

The Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force awarded Buffalo Jones Elementary, Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center, Edith Scheuerman Elementary, Georgia Matthews Elementary, and Victor Ornelas Elementary the 2023 Challenge Award. www.gckschools.com/article/1598884


Dr. Ron Barrett, Professor at KU in Aerospace Engineering, was at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center visiting with 6th graders about Aerospace Engineering. Students had an opportunity to fly small drones, styrofoam airplanes, and prop copters.

Wednesday, May 8 is National School Nurse Day. Vice-Mayor, Roy Cessna read a proclamation at an event this morning proclaiming today as School Nurse Day in Garden City. The proclamation encourages all citizens of Garden City to celebrate and acknowledge the accomplishments of schools nurses and their efforts to meet the needs of students.
