
A free developmental screening clinic will be held Friday, August 18 for children ages 3 to 5 who are residents of Garden City. The screening will take approximately an hour and a half. Trained professionals will check each child's hearing, vision, large and small muscle development, communication, and thinking skills. Appointments may be made by calling the Garfield Early Childhood Center at 620-805-7500.



The first day of the 23-24 school year is Tuesday, August 15. All elementary (Kindergarten-5th), 7th, 9th, and 10th grade students, as well as any student new to the district will begin with a half day orientation on August 15. Sixth graders at Abe Hubert, Jennie Barker, and Plymell are also encouraged to attend school that day, but won't be counted absent if they don't attend.

The Kansas Highway Patrol performed their annual school bus inspection this morning. Every school bus must pass inspection before the district can use the vehicles to transport students. For the third year in a row, Garden City Public Schools received a 100% inspection score. Great job to all the Transportation staff who made this happen!
