There will be no school for Garden City Public Schools on Friday, February 16, 2024. There is a scheduled inservice in the morning and workday in the afternoon for teachers in the district.

The Garden City High School Vocal Jazz Choir provided singing valentines at the high school yesterday. The choir will perform their singing valentine services today around the community. The singing valentines come with a serenade, a rose and a personalized card.
Garden City Public Schools has named Jessica Nothern the new Chief Financial Officer for the district. She is currently the Employee Services Director for the school district. She brings 16 years of experience in school finance to the position.

Three GCHS students with the Jobs for America’s Graduates-Kansas (JAG-K) program visited the Kansas Statehouse as part of the JAG-K Day at the Capitol. They met with Senator John Doll and Representative Dr. William Clifford. They toured the Capitol building and observed both legislative bodies in session. https://www.gckschools.com/article/1453954
GCHS Senior and choir member, Hayley Loya, is bound for New York City and Carnegie Hall. She auditioned last December and was chosen to participate in the Carnegie Honors Performance Series. She will participate in the treble honor choir under the direction of Mr. Matthew Brady and will give a culminating performance at Carnegie Hall on Saturday.
HGMS Cheer is holding a fundraiser in partnership with KFC today, February 7. 20% of all purchases will go back to the cheer team. Show them either a printed version of the flier or a digital copy/screenshot. $10 subtotal minimum for it to count towards our total.

The Garden City Public Schools Foundation and Finney County United Way teamed up to provide support for the entry fee for USD 457 students to compete in the Finney County Spelling Bee. The entry fee for the Spelling Bee helps defray costs for winning students to compete at the state level and provides districts and schools access to Scripps materials on the website. The state Spelling Bee will be held on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus in Salina, Kansas on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
