The district will soon be administering mySAEBRS, or the Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener, for students grades 2-12. This screener allows students to self-assess their social, academic and emotional behavior competencies and gives us insight into student needs for support with the goal of promoting academic success.

Georgia Matthews Elementary School is this week's Superintendent's School of the Week. Here are some things to know about Principal Michelle Kent:
How long have you been the principal at your current school?
“This is my 4th year as principal at Georgia Matthews.”
What led you to teaching and what prompted your decision to become a principal?
“I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. My mom says that since I was little I would tell people ‘quiero ser maestra’ that means I want to be a teacher in Spanish. As I started teaching, I knew I wanted to be at a level to make a big difference in our schools and that lead me to become a principal.”
What is one of your hidden talents?
“I'm fluent in Spanish! When someone sees that my last name is Kent then I start to speak in Spanish, they are always surprised!”
How do you show your school spirit?
“I celebrate my panthers all the time! We have shout-outs for people that do a great job! We have Panther Point Parties to celebrate good behavior and choices! We have Goal Crusher Parties for students who reach their math and reading goal each quarter!”
Where did you work in the summers/during college?
“I worked at the Office of Education and Innovations at K-State.”
