The Garden City High School Junior Senior prom will be held Saturday, March 28th in the GCHS practice gymnasium. Students and their guests will be introduced from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. The dance starts at 9:00 p.m. https://www.gckschools.com/article/2784217

A Black Hawk Orientation Flight with the Kansas Army National Guard took place today at Garden City High School. High school staff and community leaders had an unforgettable experience today, taking to the skies in a Black Hawk helicopter.

The GCHS Lady Buffs Swim Team will hold a fundraiser in partnership with Freddy's tonight, March 23rd. Fifteen percent of all sales from 5:00-9:00 p.m. will go back to the team. Thank you for your support!

March is Youth Art Month and student artwork has been on display at the Educational Support Center through the month. A reception will be held on Monday, March 23rd from 5:30-7:00pm in the Educational Support Center Board Room to highlight the event.

Mrs. Honey Coash, Jennie Barker Elementary School science teacher, has made it to the semi-finals of America's Favorite Teacher contest. If she wins, Jennie Barker Elementary School will get a full-day assembly for the entire school with Bill Nye the Science Guy. The contest is won by voting, and voting begins on March 16th. You are able to vote for free once per day, so please cast your votes for Mrs. Coash to help get her to the top 20.

Garden City Public Schools will observe Spring Break from March 16th

The Board of Education approved an updated 2026-2027 school calendar at their March 9, 2026, meeting. The Calendar Committee recommended moving the March 29th New Teacher In-service Day to the beginning of the school year. The new date would be August 3, 2026. The Garden City High School Chamber Orchestra was at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center today. They were performing and showing students how to play their instruments.
