There will be no school for Garden City Public Schools on Friday and Monday. There is a new teacher inservice during the day on Friday and a teacher inservice on Monday. The district offices and facilities will be open with regular business hours on Friday and Monday. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 7th.

Mrs. Desiree Delehant, Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center math teacher, has made it to the semi-finals of America's Favorite Teacher contest. Honey Coash, Jennie Barker Elementary School science teacher, received a grant from the American Society of Civil Engineers - Wichita Chapter. She received 10 STEM kits and $1,000 to buy more STEM equipment or kits. She is going to use the money to purchase 2 VexAIM robots and a competition field to teach students coding.

There will be a number of music concerts scheduled during the week at Garden City Public Schools. The free concerts are open to the public.
Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center will hold a 5th grade choir concert on Tuesday, March 31st at 6:00 p.m. The concert will be held at Clifford Hope Auditorium at Horace Good Middle School.
There will be a middle school GWAC solo and ensemble competition on Wednesday, April 1st at Garden City Community College.
Victor Ornelas Elementary School will present a 2nd grade music program on Thursday, April 2nd themed “Hats” at 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The presentation will be held in the gym.
Jennie Wilson Elementary School will present a Kindergarten and 1st grade music program at 6:00 p.m. and a 3rd grade music program at 7:00 p.m. The concerts will be held in the gym.

Garden City High School juniors Kailee Uribe and Angel Robledo took first place in the West Kansas National Speech & Debate Association Public Forum Debate tournament on Friday. They qualified for the NSDA National competition in Virginia this June.

Dr. Renee Nugent, deputy commissioner of the Kansas State Department of Education, visited Garden City Public Schools today as part of her tour of schools across the state. She visited with the administration, programs, and classrooms around the district.

A Black Hawk Orientation Flight with the Kansas Army National Guard took place today at Garden City High School. High school staff and community leaders had an unforgettable experience today, taking to the skies in a Black Hawk helicopter.

March is Youth Art Month and student artwork has been on display at the Educational Support Center through the month. A reception will be held on Monday, March 23rd from 5:30-7:00pm in the Educational Support Center Board Room to highlight the event.
