Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met during a special meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.
The Board looked at the Guiding Principles from RSP & Associates as part of the boundary study that they are conducting for the school district. The Board also looked at the Boundary Criteria for the Boundary Committee during the meeting. The Board will establish the Boundary Criteria at their January 8, 2024 meeting.
The Board approved a boundary study at their meeting on August 28, 2023. It has been over a decade that the district has been using the current school boundaries. There are a number of different factors used to determine boundaries, including but not limited to building capacity and utilization, demographic studies, enrollment balance, the needs of students, and the District Strategic Plan. The district anticipates the implementation of the updated boundaries for the 2024-25 school year.
The first proposed meeting of the Boundary Committee will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The second meeting is planned for Thursday, February 22, 2024. The third meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 2024. The Public input meetings will be held on March 20 and 21. The final Boundary Committee meeting is reserved to take place on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
