The Garden City High School Music Department received word that the Garden City High School Jazz Band 1 was selected to perform during the 2027 Kansas Music Educators Association in-service weekend. The band will spend the year working on preparing a program of music to perform. The performance is scheduled for Thursday, February 25th, 2027, at 2:10 p.m. in Hyatt Ballrooms E-H in Wichita, Kansas.
The Garden City High School Jazz Band 1 is the only group to be chosen from southwest Kansas to perform at the association’s in-service.
A group of judges selected the band through a blind audition to perform at the state’s largest music educator conference, with schools from across Kansas submitting auditions for consideration. The audition was submitted in May, and judging took place over the summer.
The Kansas Music Educators Association supports music educators by fostering leadership, providing professional development, and promoting the advocacy of music learning in schools and communities.
