Garden City Public Schools Board of Education met on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The meeting was held at the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.
The Board approved the following items during the meeting. They include minutes of the July 13, 2026, Regular Board of Education Meeting. Accounts Payable with all major accounts containing adequate balances to meet current obligations. Personnel certified and classified actions. The SAT Handbook 2026-27.
They approved the implementation of 6th grade intramurals at Bernadine Sitts and Charles Stones Intermediate Centers in Partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Initiative Grant. A bid to re-roof specific areas at Horace Good Middle School from DV Douglass for $258,300.00.
They approved the following revised Board of Education policies: CCA Organizational Chart, DFE Investment of Funds, EBBE Emergency Drills, EE Food Services, GAAC Sex-Based Discrimination (revised-name change), JB Attendance Records, JBC Enrollment, JBCC Enrollment of Nonresident Students, JBD Absences and Excuses, JGEC Sex-Based Discrimination (revised- name change), JGFGA Administration of Emergency Opioid Antagonists, JGFGBA Student Self-Administration of Medication, JQKA Foreign Exchange Student, and JRB Release of Student Records.
The Board of Education approved Social Media and Communication Platforms that staff may use for school-related communication with students and families. They include district approved social media platforms of Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). These platforms are approved for public, one-way communication, including but not limited to: announcements, program updates, event information, celebrations and recognition, and scores and results.
They approved district approved communication platforms of Thrillshare, ClassDojo, and Bound (Athletics and Activities Management and Communication Platform). These platforms are approved for district, school, classroom, athletic, and activity-related communication in accordance with district expectations and applicable state law. Use of approved communication platforms shall remain subject to all requirements of Policy IIBGC and state law, including restrictions on private communications with students.
They also approved a Clinical Contractual Agreement between Garden City Community College and the district for the 2026-2027 school year.
Under unfinished business of the meeting, the board approved a Scope of Work (SOW) proposal for the Core Facilities Conditions Assessment (FCA) for the district’s campuses from FMX for $129,332.77
