We had a great 2025-2026 school year. I hope your summer break is going well!
Today, I’m writing with an update about the cell phone ban law passed by the Kansas Legislature in March. When this law takes effect in July, it will prohibit students from having or using their cell phones and other personal communication devices during the school day, including during lunch.
We understand that this will be a big change for many people. That’s why our team is already working hard to plan for the smoothest and most positive transition possible for staff and students. Our Board of Education will also be approving a new policy to support this mandate.
We’ve set up a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website with some basic information about the new law and how it will be implemented in Garden City Public Schools. You can visit the page here to see the information and questions.
You can expect an update from your child’s school in early August, and you are welcome to check the FAQs for additional details that may be added over summer break.
