Garden City Public Schools honored long-time employees on Thursday, May 21st, at a Board of Education Staff Recognition Dinner held in the Commons Area at Garden City High School. Each year, Garden City Public Schools proudly salutes all of its retiring employees and those who continue to serve the district after 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of service.
For many, their service to the district and students has lasted decades – allowing them to hone their skills, to mentor their colleagues, and to be leaders in their professions. Every student, teacher, and staff member have the power to make a difference, and we’re here to help them just do that.
This year, 22 employees retired from Garden City Public Schools with a combined total of 459 years of service. There were also 114 employees recognized for their longevity with the district. Those retiring from the district include Manuela Vigil (4 years), Andrea King (7 years), Penny Medina (9 years), Jamie Schweer (10 years), Vicki Galliart (11 years), Maria Marquez (11 years), Teresa Nolan (12 years), Marsha Dixon (18 years), Josefina Prieto (19 years), Rosario Ruvalcaba (20 years), Shirley Creeden (22 years), Glenda Gibson (23 years), Cruz Palacios (23 years), Dee Holmes (24 years), Carmela Terrones (27 years), Norma Ayala (28 years), Tracy Johnson (28 years), Rhonda Soto (29 years), Sara Brown (30 years), Shauna Drohman (32 years), Paula Baker (35 years), and Julie Morris (37 years).
