GCHS Students ServSafe Achievement

A number of Garden City High School students earned ServSafe Certifications of Achievement and were presented the certificates on Tuesday, April 14th at the school.  Several students also received Certificates of Attendance. The certification was through Kansas State University Extension. 

The students receiving Certificates of Achievement are Christian Carrillo, Izaiah Mendoza, and Keegan Myerhoff.

The ServSafe Certificate of Achievement is a credential verifying foundational food safety knowledge for entry-level employees, such as servers, cooks, and dishwashers. It is awarded by the National Restaurant Association after passing a 40-question, non-proctored, online assessment with a score of 75% or higher. 

It ensures workers understand crucial food safety principles like personal hygiene, cross-contamination, cleaning, and sanitizing.

The certificate serves as proof of compliance with basic food safety regulations for employers. 

Students receiving Certificates of Attendance are Dionicios Alvarado, Tarran Berhnhardt Purdy, Michael Condit, Abdiraham Essa, Acelynn Garcia Lozano, Ava (Natalie) Gardner, Kaitlyn Hardesty, Travis Kessler, Jordan Lucero, Nagwa Mahfoud, Baylea Myran, Jose Ramirez, Adrian Segovia, Miley Sanchez, Lupita Tomas, Adrian Rodriguez, Abigail Woosley, Warren O'Brien, and Catalina Perez.

A Certificate of Attendance signify that an individual has completed a ServSafe training course, but it does not necessarily mean they have passed the formal, accredited certification exam. It is usually issued upon finishing online modules or an in-person class, indicating training in food safety basics.

It verifies that a participant has gone through a training program, such as ServSafe Workplace, which covers food safety, but it does not represent a "certified" status.
