The Garden City High School drama department will be holding auditions for “Romeo and Juliet” on September 4th from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and September 5th from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the GCHS auditorium. There is no need to prepare anything for the audition, just bring a positive attitude and excitement the audition.
Garden City High School theater will bring a new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ to the stage. They will be utilizing these strange times to tell this tragedy in a new way that will harness new technologies, emphasize character and make it a completely accessible experience for today’s audiences. There will be fusing of Shakespearean language in a contemporary setting.
On the streets of Verona, two warring families grudgingly hold a truce, but the peace is uneasy. When Romeo, a Montague, meets Juliet, a Capulet, sparks fly and old tensions bubble to the surface, creating a dangerous atmosphere that can only end in tragedy. One of the most famous stories of all time, Romeo and Juliet weaves comedy, satire, and tragedy to paint a picture of young love gone horribly wrong.
