Garden City Public Schools programs that were going to be impacted by the federal funding freeze will continue due to the recent announcement by the U.S. Department of Education of the lifting of the freeze. All of the programs will be fully funded and will continue for the 2025-26 school year.
“This is good news for the district for the start of the school year,” said Interim Superintendent, Josh Guymon. “These programs help all of our students be successful in their academic journey as we meet our mission to get them prepared to be college and career ready.”
The funds that support several key programs include:
Migrant Education (Title IC)
Teacher Quality & Professional Development (Title IIA)
English Language Acquisition (Title III)
Student Support & Academic Enrichment (Title IVA)
After-School Programs (21st Century Title IVB)
The first day of school for Garden City Public Schools will be Wednesday, August 13th with a morning orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, seventh grade, ninth and tenth grades and all students new to the district.
