The Garden City High School music department participated in the State Large Group Contest held Wednesday, April 17, 2024. The competition was held at Dodge City High School in Dodge City, Kansas. A panel made up of three judges rated each of the performances in their particular music group. The groups were judged by a very high standard and they received “I” ratings (Outstanding) or “II” ratings (Excellent).
There were three GCHS choirs that participated in the state competition. Freshman Treble Choir received a “I” rating, Les Chantes received a “I” rating and the GCHS Chorale received a “I” rating.
The GCHS orchestra had two groups compete at state. The 9th and 10th grade orchestra received a “II” rating. The Symphonic Orchestra earned a “I” rating.
The GCHS Band had two groups compete at state. The Symphonic Band earned a “II” rating and the Wind Ensemble received a “I” rating.
