GCHS To Present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

The Garden City High School drama department will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare on February 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 p.m.  There will be a matinee on February 4th at 2:30 p.m. The performances will be held in the auditorium on the Garden City High School campus, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd.  This play is appropriate for all audiences.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students in high school and under. Tickets may be purchased at https://gardencitydrama.ludus...., from cast members or at the door the of the performances. The box office opens an hour prior to the production for the purchase of tickets at the door.  Cash, checks, and credit/debit cards are accepted. 

Synopsis:  Four Athenians run away to the forest only to have Puck the fairy make both of the boys fall in love with the same girl. The four run through the forest pursuing each other while Puck helps his master play a trick on the fairy queen. In the end, Puck reverses the magic, and the two couples reconcile and marry.

Cast: Theseus, The Duke of Athens, is played by Gustavo Hiracheta (junior). Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, is played by Emelin Dominguez (freshman). Hermia is played by Phybee Madlangbayan (senior). Her father, Egeus, is played by Sebastian Arroyo (freshman). Her betrothed, Demetrius, is played by Santiago Rueda (senior). The man she loves, Lysander, is played by Pablo Aguilar (senior). Her best friend who loves Demetrius, Helena, is played by Hayley Loya (senior). Philostrate, master of revels, is Marsae Hanneman (freshman). The Mechanicals, working people in Athens planning to perform a play for Theseus and Hippolyta’s wedding are: Peter Quince/Prologue played by Leslie Perez (sophomore), Nick Bottom/Pyramus played by Gavin Norton (senior), Francis Flute/Thisbe played by Albert Revolorio (junior), Tom Snout/Wall played by Zane Sorensen (freshman), and Robin Starveling/Moonshine played by Jordan Humphries (junior). Oberon, King of the Fairies, is played by Logan Wyatt (senior). Titania, Queen of the Fairies, is played by Lila Scrivner (freshman). Robin Goodfellow aka Puck is played by Aleathia Miller (freshman). Titania’s fairies are Peaseblossom played by Annalise York (junior), Cobweb played by Julia Facio (junior), Moth played by Zephyr Hernandez (freshman), Mustardseed played by Jada Martinez (freshman), and Foxglove played by Maura Lara (senior).

Mark Van Savage is the Director. Robyn Hilt and Alice Hilt are Assistant Directors. The Stage Manager is Madison Crow (junior). Assistant stage manager is Nic Vigil (junior). Light board operator is Mallory Hardy (senior) and Sound board operators are Izzy Frey (junior), and Giselle Rueda (freshman). Alice Hilt serves as technical director as well as lighting, set, props, and sound designer. Costumes were designed by Erika Estrada (senior) and Robyn Hilt. The costumes were built by Robyn Hilt and the GCHS costuming classes and cast. The set was built by Technical Theatre classes, cast and crew.
