GCHS Drama Department Wins Awards at State Conference

Members of the Garden City High School International Thespian Society Troupe #2846 attended the Kansas State Thespian Conference at Century II in Wichita, Kansas.  This year’s festival was held on January 4-6, 2024. 

Thespy results:

Students that received a Superior rating include: Phybee Madlangbayan-Solo Acting-perfect score—performing at Thespy showcase; Hayley Loya-Solo Musical; Georgia Fahrmeier-Solo Musical; and Logan Wyatt/Gavin Norton-Duet Acting.  

Students that received an Excellent rating include: Santiago Rueda, Nic Vigil, Jasper Transfiguracion-Group Acting; Kagome Bounpaseuth-Costume Construction; Lila Scrivner-Solo Dance; Madison Crow-Stage Management; Izzy Frey-Set Design; Silas Lobmeyer-Solo Musical; Julia Facio-Solo Musical; Katrina Almaguer-Solo Acting; and Gustavo Hiracheta/Zane Sorensen-Duet Acting.

Students that received a Good rating include: Marsae Hanneman/Albert Revolorio-Duet Musical; Angela Chacon-Costume Construction; and Veronica McCallum-Solo Musical.

Santiago Rueda won a Kansas Thespians performance scholarship. He was one of ten students awarded this scholarship. He also had many college callbacks.

Hayley Loya, who was a State Thespian Officer this year, auditioned for colleges and had many callbacks at the event

Ms. Alice Hilt is the Drama/Theatre teacher at Garden City High School.
