Welcome New Administrators and Principals

Garden City Public Schools has a number of new administrators in new leadership positions in the district for the 2023-24 school year. 

 Dr. Maria Gomez-Rocque has been appointed to be the Deputy Superintendent.  She will oversee Curriculum and Instruction services in the district and will be the acting superintendent in the absence of the superintendent. She comes from Perryton, Texas where she was the assistant superintendent.

 Josh Guymon has been appointed to be the Assistant Superintendent of Operations.  He will oversee Technology, Special Education, Transportation, Nutrition and Health Services Departments in the district and will be the acting superintendent in the absence of the superintendent and deputy superintendent. He was previously the Director of Special Education in the district.

Gina Galpin has been appointed to be the Director of Special Education in the district. She is transferring from being the principal at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center.

 M. Shane Burns has been appointed as the Director of Transportation in the district.  He is transferring from a special education position at Kenneth Henderson Middle School.

Heather Stegman has been appointed to be the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.  She is moving from the Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator position in the district.

Michelle Baier has been appointed to be the Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator.  She is moving from the district instructional coach position.

Garden City Public Schools has also appointed a number of experienced staff members to fill key Principal and Teacher on Special Assignment positions in the district for the 2023-24 school year.

Bradley Hill will be the principal at Bernadine Sitts Intermediate Center. He is transferring from being the Associate Principal at Kenneth Henderson Middle School.

Andrew Lee will be the principal at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center.  He is transferring from being the Activity Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Horace Good Middle School.

Bryan Kott will be the principal at Georgia Matthews Elementary School.  He is transferring from being the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Abe Hubert Elementary School and Alta Brown Elementary School.

Julisa Flores will be the Teacher on Special Assignment at Alta Brown Elementary School and Abe Hubert Elementary School.  She is transferring from the instructional coach position at Alta Brown Elementary School.

Macy Younger will be the associate principal/instructional coach at Kenneth Henderson Middle School.  She is transferring from being the full-time instructional coach at the school.

Paula Figgs will be the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Charles O. Stones Intermediate Center.  She will also continue to be the Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Bernadine Sitts Intermediates Center.

The first day of school for the 2023-24 school year will be Tuesday, August 15 with a half-day orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, seventh grade, ninth and tenth grades and all students new to Garden City Public Schools.  The first full day of school for the district will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023.  All classes will be in session for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

The first day of school for Garfield Early Childhood Center is Monday, August 21, 2023.  The morning session will start at 8:30 a.m. and the afternoon session will begin at 12:15 p.m.
