Garden City Public Schools

The Board of Education approved a revised 2023-2024 school calendar at the May 15 meeting.  The revised calendar went into effect upon ratification of the negotiated agreement, which was approved at the July 10 Board of Education meeting. A morning session of school will be held for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  The first day of school for all students is Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

Some key dates on the calendar include:

• August 7^th – 9^th – Orientation for new teachers
• August 10 - 11^th – Inservice for all teachers
• August 14^th – Workday for all teachers
• August 15^th – Morning class only for elementary, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth grades and students new to the district, teacher workday in the afternoon
• August 16^th – First full day of school for all students
• September 4^th – Labor Day observed no school
• September 25^th – Teacher inservice
• October 23^rd – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• October 30^th and 31^st – Parent Teacher Conferences
• November 20^th – 24^th  – Fall vacation
• December 21^st – January 3^rd – Winter vacation
• January 4^th  – Teacher workday
• January 5^th – Teacher inservice
• January 8^th – School resumes
• January 26^th – New teacher inservice
• February 16^th – Teacher inservice in the morning and teacher workday in the afternoon
• February 22^nd and 23^rd – Parent Teacher Conferences
• March 11^th – 15^th – Spring Break
• March 22^nd – Teacher inservice  
• March 29^th – April 1^st – Spring vacation
• April 25^th – Teacher inservice
• April 26^th – New teacher inservice
• May 18^th – Graduation weekend
• May 23^rd – Last day of school
• May 24^th – Teacher workday in the morning
