The USD 457 Board of Education approved Dr. Maria Gomez-Rocque, as the new deputy superintendent of Garden City Public Schools at its April 17 meeting. Dr. Rocque will begin the position in the district on July 1, 2023 for the 2023-24 school year.
Dr. Rocque, is coming to the district from Perryton, Texas. She has nine years’ administrator experience. She joins the district with 21 years of experience from teaching in the classroom to principal at all levels and recently as an assistant superintendent.
Dr. Rocque earned a Doctorate degree in special populations, including early childhood, bilingual/ESL, and special education. She also holds a Master's degree in Instructional Technology and a Bachelor's in Bilingual Education.
Dr. Rocque is married and has three adult children. She also has three grandchildren.
