The next meeting of the Garden City Public Schools Board of Education will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023. The meeting will be held in the Educational Support Center Board Room, 1205 Fleming Street.
The board will recognize Andrew Thiesen a Horizon Award winner; Alice Hilt, Region 5 Theatre Teacher of the Year; and receive the results from the Kansas Thespian Conference.
The board will receive a building presentation from Victor Ornelas Elementary School.
They will receive a Mental Health and SEL Advisory Committee Update from Diane Elliot, SEL Advisory Facilitator and Kim Fisher, Mental Health Liaison. Abe Hubert Elementary School will present their Wildly Important Goals Report.
During unfinished business: they will discuss the Safety and Security Updates – Technology, that will be presented by Jason Johnson, Assistant Superintendent and Colleen Drees, Financial Officer. They will also discuss the 2023-2024 School Calendar presented by Jason Johnson, Assistant Superintendent.
Under new business: they will review the Board Policy LED, Churches and Board Policy IFA, Classroom Displays that will be presented by Glenda LaBarbera, Deputy Superintendent.
The board will hold three (3) executive sessions. The first will be relating to employer-employee negotiations whether or not in consultation with the representative or representatives of the body or agency. The second will be consultation with an attorney for the public body or agency which would be deemed privileged in the attorney-client relationship. The third will be relating to personnel matters for non-elected personnel.
