Board of Education to make determination on next steps in grade reconfiguration at the Meeting on Sept. 26

When reviewing this plan, please remember that this is only a recommendation from the Boundary Sub-Committee and has not yet been voted on or approved by the Board of Education. During the next scheduled Board meeting (Thursday, September 26), the Board of Education will have two options:

Vote to proceed with the recommendation
Halt the process entirely

If the Board votes to proceed with the recommendation, the boundaries will then be drawn by RSP, and the details of the recommendation will be finalized before a school closure hearing is held. After a hearing is held the final vote is taken by the Board of Education to close schools. The earliest this hearing and vote could be held is late October.

To be VERY CLEAR! The Board has not made a final decision on this issue. The vote on Thursday, September 26 is to decide if sub-committee should proceed to direct RSP to have boundaries drawn and other details finalized.

The Board approved a boundary study at their meeting on August 28, 2023. It has been over a decade that the district has been using the current school boundaries. There are a number of different factors used to determine boundaries, including but not limited to building capacity and utilization, demographic studies, enrollment balance, the needs of students, and the District Strategic Plan. The district anticipates the implementation of the updated boundaries for the 2025-26 school year.
