Garden City Public Schools has a number of new administrators in new leadership positions in the district for the 2022-23 school year.  The administrators started in their new positions on July 1, 2022.

Dr. Mike Dominguez has been appointed Superintendent.  He comes to the district from Stratford, Texas where he was the Superintendent.  He started in the district on June 1, 2022.

Glenda LaBarbera has been appointed to be the Deputy Superintendent.  She will oversee student services in the district and will be the acting superintendent in the absence of the superintendent. She was previously the Assistant Superintendent in the district.

Jason Johnson has been appointed to be the Assistant Superintendent.  He will oversee Human Resources, Operations, and Curriculum in the district and will be the acting superintendent in the absence of the superintendent and deputy superintendent. He was previously the Director of Curriculum and Assessment in the district.

Dr. Joe Alcorta has been appointed to be the Human Resources Director.  He was previously the superintendent in Dalhart, Texas.

Shane Faurot has been appointed to be the Plant Facilities Director.  He was previously the director of facilities at the Scott County School District.

Heather Stegman has been appointed to be the Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator.  She is transferring from an instructional coach position at Kenneth Henderson Middle School.

The first day of school for the 2022-23 school year will be Wednesday, August 17 with a half-day orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth, and all students new to Garden City Public Schools. The first full day of school for the district will be Thursday, August 18, 2022.  All classes for elementary through high school will be in session for the start of the 2022-23 school year. Garfield Early Childhood Center’s first day of school will be Monday, August 22, 2022.
