Garden City Public Schools Parents and Families,

We know that these last few days have been a whirlwind and there is still a lot of uncertainty. We do want to address a few key items that relate to our high school students. One of our priorities is the health and safety of our students, staff and community, and we take this responsibility seriously. Governor Kelly directed on March 17th, that all school facilities to be closed until May 29, 2020. This facility closure will affect many of our scheduled Garden City High School activities.

Garden City Public Schools believes that graduation and other events are a very important part of a student’s journey and allows them to celebrate both their accomplishments as well as the support of their family, teachers and friends.  However, of equal importance, is the safety and well-being of the community in light of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Developments about the pandemic are happening at a very fast pace.

In light of the state closure of school facilities and in the best interest of the students involved, the following activities will be postponed until further notice:

  • Garden City High School Prom
  • Garden City High School Academic Lettering
  • Garden City High School Senior Awards Night
  • Garden City High School Hall of Fame
  • Garden City Alternate Education Center and Virtual Academy Graduation
  • Garden City High School Graduation

There is no guarantee that these events will be able to happen. If allowed to happen, new dates of events for the above listed ‘postponed’ activities will be posted as soon as information becomes available. Please keep yourself informed by following our District website or social media accounts.
