The COVID Operational and Safety Plan for 2021-22 was approved at the July 26th Board of Education meeting.

The plan includes:

  • Preventative measures are strongly encouraged. 
  • In the event of a high concentration of COVID-19 in a classroom or other school setting, it may become necessary for administration to require the use of preventative measures. 
  • Masks will be optional for all staff and students. 
  • All public health measures will be followed.Daily screening for staff will continue. 
  • COVID vaccinations are not required, however COVID vaccinations are recommended in accordance with CDC and KDHE guidelines, or the student’s or employee’s medical professional.
  • COVID testing at school will be by appointment. 
  • The district will continue to collaborate with the Finney County Health Department to monitor COVID outbreaks.
Garden City Public Schools wants everyone to have a safe school year.  The first day of school for the 2021-22 school year will be Monday, August 9th, with a half-day orientation for students in grades kindergarten through fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth, and all students new to Garden City Public Schools.  The first full day of school for the district will be Tuesday, August 10, 2021.  All classes will be in session for the start of the 2021-22 school year.
