Meals Free Until December 31
Posted on 09/04/2020

On August 31, 2020, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released nine nationwide waivers extending flexibilities for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO). With these waivers, Sponsors can operate the Summer Food Service Program or Seamless Summer Option through December 2020 or until Federal money is no longer available, whichever is sooner.

The district will temporarily serve meals free of charge to all students starting Tuesday, September 8th.  Please note that this program is temporary so families that have not reapplied for free and reduced lunches will still need to turn in an application.

The Nutrition Services department at Garden City Public Schools is encouraging parents to submit their Free and Reduced-Price Meal application online at Parents will follow the instructions on entering the information online. When the application is completed the parent will receive an e-mail confirmation.

The district is asking parents to update their contact information with the schools. The district needs this contact information so buildings can contact families on any updates as we progress through the school year.

Parents who have questions can call the Nutrition Services department from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday at 620-805-7080.

Garden City Public Schools is an equal opportunity provider.
