| Major Programs - Staff Development |
An ongoing technology-related staff development program is critical to the sucessful implementation of any technology-related initiatives in the district. The district will continue 4 forms of technology-related staff development programs as listed below.
i. Summer Technology Academy - This
program will be used to deliver 3 days of training to
classroom staff in "technology update schools". Staff
members will receive a stipend for their participation.
This training will focus on the role of technology as
tool for school reform, models for use in the
classroom, and on specific software selected for
implementation in the classroom.
ii. Fall/Spring After School Technology Inservices - This
program focuses on technology literacy and provides
one-hour to three-hour training sessions after school, in
the evening, and on Saturdays. Participation by staff is
voluntary.
iii. Technology Mentorship Program - In this program
6 teams of four teachers work with two technology mentors
to implement the Technology Assistance for Kansas Educators
(TAKE) team model for instructional technology integration.
The 24 teachers are selected to participate in the program
as four member teams and each teacher creates a portfolio
to document their progress in the program. At the end of
the year their work is evaluated and they receive a
stipend based on the quality of their work and the work of
their team. The primary focus of this program is the
integration of technology into classroom and curriculum.
iv. Technical Training for Support Staff - This program
provides training for technical support staff members in
order to keep their skills at a high level to provide
support for district technology systems. Users identified
as advanced users for specific software are also supported
through participation in training and user's groups. |
