Interior Design
Patsy Fort

This program teaches students to plan and furnish interiors of private homes, public buildings and commercial establishments.  They develop designs, prepare drawings and specifications for interior construction, furnishings, lighting and finishes according to clients needs.  They learn to follow federal, state and local building codes.  Students complete comprehensive portfolios which can be used for application for college scholarships as well as employment into the industry.

Course Descriptions

 

Introduction to Fashion, Textiles and Interiors

 Grade- 9,10    Credits- ˝ credit

Students will learn about career opportunities in the fashion and Interiors industry. The elements and principles of design will be introduced as they relate to fashion and interiors. Basic sewing techniques will be learned as needed for current fashion production. Students will complete one service project and a recycle project: $10 for personal projects.

   
     
 

Interior Design I

 

   Grade: 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite:  Introduction to Fashion, Textiles and Interiors

Students will use a “hands-on” approach to study and relate the basic elements and principles of design to housing and interiors.  Furniture styles, backgrounds, windows treatments, lighting and accessories will also be covered.  Students will complete personal design portfolios.  Students will complete a variety of practical designs to enhance their own decorating needs.  CAD design will be introduced and students will complete a professional room design.

     

Interior Design II

     
 Grade 11, 12    ˝ credit

Prerequisite: Interior Design I

This class will focus on student- generated designs. CDA design will be utilized in-depth. Interior design fads, trends, and classics will be studied. Students will work with a team to present a design proposal and complete a real design project. This class will be project oriented with students implementing their own designs.

   
     

Entrepreneuraship

   

  Grade: 11, 12

Prerequisite:  Focus on Fashion and Textile Application AND student must complete an application for acceptance in this class.

Students will learn what it takes to be on the cutting edge in tomorrow’s business world.  All aspects of managing a small business will be explored while students run an embroidery company.  Coursework involves designing, creating and marketing products to the consumer.  Students will use commercial embroidery equipment and software to create products.  This is a rewarding class to build career skills for the future.  This course may be repeated with instructor permission.

 
     

Work Based Learning

Grade:  11, 12

Prerequisite:  Successful completion of any OFACS program sequence and Instructor Permission.  Students must complete an application into the program during enrollment.
