Dean's Office

What is the Dean's Office?

The Dean's Office is a student discipline office that was established in 1997.  Since then the Dean's Office has become involved with much more than student discipline.

Where is the Dean's Office located?

The Dean's Office is located in the JDA building.  Using the Northwest entrance (corner of 7th and Olive), you will find our office located near the lobby.

Recent changes in the Dean's Office:

This year our office will be working with two Deans only.  No formal alphabet breakdown will be used.  Students may work with both Deans throughout the year.  It is our hope to maximize student interaction by taking this approach.

What is the role of a Dean?

The primary responsibility of a Dean is student discipline.  However, Deans have many other duties.  Below you will find a list of things with which Deans may be of assistance:

  • Freshman Mentoring
  • Student Discipline
  • Student Safety
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Teacher Evaluation
  • District and Student Identification Badges
  • Student Assistance Team (SAT) Coordinator
  • Tardy Hall
  • Campus Supervision

Social Work and Truancy:

The Dean's Office works closely with our school social worker, Ryan Meng, and Truancy Officer, Denna Welch.  Through this relationship our office handles conflict resolutions and student truancy issues.  Click HERE to learn more.

District Philosophy of Discipline:

USD #457 believes discipline is a process designed to teach, model, and reinforce appropriate behaviors necessary to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment by changing unacceptable behavior to acceptable behavior.
