This is for any student that failed a class in English, Math, Science, Social Studies or Speech and had a 50% or higher in the class. If you are unsure, call or come to the HS the morning of Tuesday, June 1 and find out if you qualify. ATTENTION JUNIORS that are interested in Law Enforcement. The Cadet Law Enforcement Academy is a program sponsored by the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas American Legion and Auxiliary. It is a week long program held the first part of June at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy. The purpose of the academy is to help young Kansans gain knowledge regarding the training and responsibilities of Law Enforcement Officers. The Cadet will gain a better understanding, respect, and appreciation for lawmen at all levels. What a unique opportunity for you! Please see Mrs. Hill in the Career Center for more information and/or an application.
ATTENTION JUNIORS: Boys’ and Girls’ State is scheduled for June 6-12—Boys gather in Manhattan at K-State and the girls in Lawrence at KU. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to stay on a university campus for several days. You will learn about how our government is organized, how it operates, and actually get to campaign for office, create, lobby, and pass a bill. You will also have the unique opportunity to meet and talk with some of our top government officials, visit government offices, live in the dorms of a university and interact socially with other juniors from Kansas. Qualifications include: you must be a junior, 3.0 GPA, interested in government and current events, a self-starter, a leader, and involved in extra-curricular activities in school and in the community. Please see Mrs. Hill in the career center for further information and an application. |
