SUGAR BEET FACTORY

The grand opening of the Sugar Beet Factory took place on November 15, 1906. The first shipment of 30,000 pounds of sugar was shipped in that month. To produce this shipment the employees of the factory worked a total of twenty-two 12 hour shifts.

The trains picked up the beets 2 to 3 times a day. The factory processed 1,200 tons of beets per day. This amount of beets was then processed into 325,000 pounds of sugar each day. Around 400 people worked at the Sugar Beet Factory.
